Take Part

Education and teaching play an important part for Susanne and Sophie in the dialogue around the making and development of new work. Both work as free-lancers in Higher Education institutions and Dance Conservatoires, as well as for Art Galleries & Museums, Dance Agencies, Theatre Schools. They travel widely to create commissioned work for Community Projects and on invitation by performance companies, nationally and abroad.

Seven Sisters Group’s teaching revolves around a lively discourse between body and site. It encompasses the sharing of the company’s unique working methods and approaches to performance and composition in specific contexts; experiments around the performer - spectator relationship; design and visual metaphor within site specific performance; art in public contexts; and in recent years ground-breaking deployments in the use of handheld technology within live performance contexts.

Research Residencies

You can invite us to explore sites and locations with and for your group. As an example, Susanne was resident artist with Homo Ludens Performance Company in Seoul (Korea), teaching company classes and improvisation techniques and exploring various urban sites in the city for future work of the company, passing on Seven Sisters Group’s specific approaches to site-specific performance.

Community Project Commissions

Susanne has received many commissions to choreograph work for community groups and public performance showcases over the last 25 years. Each project is individually tailored to your needs, like ‘Bodies On The Beach’ - a project for a 65 strong cast, aged 7-65 years old, commission by Yorkshire Dance in 2014.

Susanne was an inspiration for the participants, offering excellent insights into creating location-specific dance. We’d love to book her again!
— Cindy Gower, Education and Training Projects Co-ordinator, South East Dance
The workshops were well-developed and non-threatening which allowed us to take more creative risks. Left me satisfied though eager for more..!
